Our FFN Pathways program offers free training and mentorship to license-exempt Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) child care providers, supporting their growth and the well-being of the children they care for.
Two Pathways. More Support for FFN Providers.
The FFN Pathways Program supports Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) and license-exempt child care providers with free training, resources, and support to strengthen the care they provide and explore new opportunities.
Choose the path that works for you. Build your skills through the It Takes a Village Pathway, or get mentorship and support to work toward becoming a licensed family child care provider through the Licensure Pathway.
We also offer periodic How to Become a Licensed Family Child Care Provider information sessions for providers who want to learn more about licensing before deciding if it’s right for them.
Program Overview
Licensure Pathway
Interested in becoming a licensed family child care provider? The Licensure Pathway is a six-month program that provides hands-on support throughout the licensing process.
Participants receive:
One-on-one mentorship from an experienced, licensed family child care provider
Reimbursement for CPR training
Reimbursement for Licensing Orientation & Application Fee
Reimbursement for Live Scan fingerprinting
A $500 stipend if you receive your family child care license before completing the program
It Takes a Village Pathway
You don’t have to become licensed to strengthen the care you provide. It Takes a Village is a three-part webinar series created for Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) and license-exempt providers.

Learning Through Play
Developmental Milestones
Preventive Health and Safety Practices
Learn practical skills and strategies you can use while caring for children in your home or community.
How to Become a Licensed Family Child Care Provider
Interested in becoming a licensed family child care provider, but not sure where to start? Our How to Become a Licensed Family Child Care Provider information sessions are offered periodically throughout the year.
Learn about the licensing process, what you’ll need to get started, and what to expect along the way. These sessions can help you decide whether becoming licensed is the right next step for you.
